Accelerated Math

Accelerated Math is a research-based computer program that produces high gains in math growth for students of different achievement levels in all grades.   The program creates custom-designed practice assignments for students based on a computerized diagnostic test, scores their work and reports the results immediately. This frees the classroom teacher to work with individual students on their particular skill strengths and weaknesses.

Students work at their own individual levels and they are given adequate practice time to achieve mathematics proficiency and the program helps teachers set realistic, achievable math goals with their students for optimum growth.  The teacher can use program reports and feedback for planning instruction, diagnosis of student needs, and also to provide information for parents.

Last school year, we added a new program, FastMath. This program gives our students a chance to practice their math facts on the computer.  The program keeps track of the facts that students have mastered which helps Midway’s teachers focus on targeted skill development.

Mrs. McCarty is working with 5th-grade students in the Accelerated Math program.
